It might be pretty tough locating satellite tv receiver online. You may have to dig through a lot of marketing to locate the helpful tips. Thanks your first rate information.

For FM broadcast, I'm not sure the situation is all as bad as it was for the smoke signaller. FM has some advantages--it's simple, the infrastructure is easy to set up and maintain. And it has worked pretty reliably, delivering fairly high-quality goods for 50 years or so.

The format, I think has a future. The current business model probably doesn't.

Satellite was always a format with death hanging over it--it just doesn't make any sense in a world with Internet everywhere, which is the world we're heading toward.

TV I'm not so sure about--I'm thinking that delivering high quality, on demand, interactive video on a truly large scale (billion+ simultaneous users) may not be right around the corner. I'm not sure we're going to have the infrastructure for that soon. I think we're going to have something like the "last mile" lag we're going through now.

Brian,

I don't disagree.. Smoke signals will work when not much else will :) What I was trying to say in my broken english is that broadcasting as we know it will change.. Just as newspapers and buggy whips..

Good stuff!

Imagine what life was like for the last known smoke signaler. Ah, the stories he must have had for that new generation.

Remember, though, the cinema didn't die with the advent of television. It got better. Of course, home cinema got better and television and the cinema became threatened.

All major forms of media seem to get their 15 minutes and pass the spotlight. Yet, the spotlight returns to give another chance to shine, except for the smoke signalers. Ah, well, life continues so smoke signaling could make a comeback.
