John, KF8KK and I (Mike, N7LMJ) will be attending the Dayton Hamvention on Friday and Saturday (The 20th and 21st of May). I will be doing some vender interviews and some videos for the Geek of the North podcast and the Geek News Central Website. If you would like to meet up with us, we will be able to be found by the guys in the IOOK booth in the flea market. Just look for the light blue flag off to the left in the flea market as you come into the flea market area. We look forward to having an eyeball QSO with you!

I have reposted all of the Tech and General ham Radio podclasses.
I have received a bunch of email requesting that I put it somewhere they could be downloaded. Even if they are a bit out of date, I have done so. They are over at www.hamradioclass.org and on iTunes (just search “ham radio”)
Enjoy!

As you can read over at www.hamradioclass.org, John Martin and I have decided that continuing production on the Extra Class Podclass just isn’t going to happen with all the new life issues and other obligations we have taken on in the last 6 years. It’s been a great run and we thank everyone for the support.
Please read below:
We have come to a difficult decision regarding the Ham Radio Podclass’ future. Due to life getting in the way of production of the Extra Topics version of the podcast (the Extra Class Podcast) we are dropping production. We can no longer put the time in required to bring you a quality podcast.
We will also NOT be updating the General class podclass when the question pool changes.
Instead, we are going to concentrate on getting the Technician class updated for the new question pool. The Ham Radio Podclass will be just for entry level ham radio license study. We will leave the episodes that we do have up and available as long as we can.
We thank everyone for your support and will be back with the New Technician course starting in June 2010. Check back at hamradioclass.org (not hamradioclass.com or .net) for a new website, new feed and the new class!
We will provide links to some free and paid resources to get your upgrades on the new website.
Again, thanks for your support!

As stated above, we are going to continue doing the Tech class to get new hams into the hobby. We are just dropping the upgrade podcasts.

John Martin, KF8KK and Myself (Mike Dell, N7LMJ) have started feeding the Extra Topics Ham Radio Podclass. This class is for General Class ham radio operators who would like to upgrade to the Extra class. If you are interested, go to www.hamradioclass.org and subscribe to the feed. Also, if you don’t have your ham license and want to get one, we have the Tech class podclass available for download. We also have the General Upgrade class for download. Go check it out at www.hamradioclass.org

I just returned from the New Media Expo out in Vegas. Had a great time, and met many people. When I would give my business card to someone and they looked at “The Benziod Report” they were confused at what it was about. I would tell them it’s just my little audio blog that was basically me talking to friends and playing a little music sometimes. It was hard to explain why the name “Benzoid Report”.
Here is how the name happened:
A good ham radio friend of mine, Big Al Snyder, KB8FJB lived in Benzie County Michigan ( a few miles from where I was at the time) and he used to call people from Benzie County “Benzoids” (not to be confused with the drug class of the same name) . So, a few years later, I moved to a small town in Benzie County called Lake Ann. When I started podcasting (late 2004) I thought, Benzoid Report would be a good name for it, and it was. Lots of people know of it by the funny name. Lots of new people I meet don’t understand what it’s about.
So, from here on out, this podcast and blog will be called Mike Dell’s World which more accurately describes what you are going to hear and see on the blog, videos and podcasts. In this case, YES, it is all about me. The webiste will be moved at some point to www.mikedell.com but you will not have to change any bookmarks or feed settings as I will have things forward from www.benzoidreport.com
Now I will get people that confuse me with the other Michael Dell at Dell Inc. (by the way, YES, I am THE REAL Michael Dell!)
I’m going to keep the numbering of the show so the next one out will be Mike Dell’s World #92.
Talk to you then!
