Today’s show is going out on all the audio feeds. It’s sort of an announcement.
After 18 years of employment with a company, I have become self-employed. It’s going to take me a month or so to get ramped up and ready for a full load of business but I’ve never felt more ready then I do right now. 2 days ago, I didn’t think I was ready but the hand of God slapped me up side the head and said ” Dummy, you are going the wrong way. Here, go this way”
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet, please take me inside… for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements… and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth… though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land… for you are my god… and I am your devoted worshiper.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest…and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
The trip started in Traverse City a week ago (Tuesday 1 June). I few out of TVC Airport to Chicago, Then Chicago to Dallas and Dallas to McAllen, Texas. I spent the Night in Donna Texas at my In-Laws house. On Wednesday we loaded up the Motorhome and headed for Grand Haven Michigan.
We made it about 150 miles and blew a tire. After waiting in the 90 degree heat for 2 hours, AAA came and fixed the tire and we were on our way.
We made it to Mount Pleasant Texas. The next day we made it to Sikeston, Mo with no other problems. On Friday, we drove to Terre Haute, IN for a short visit with my Mother-in-law’s Sister. and made it back to Grand Haven by 8pm. (a long day!)
Once we got to Grand Haven, My wife picked me up at her folks place and we stayed in town at a friend’s place until Sunday morning.
It was a very long and hard week due to a lot of other factors but all in all it went well and I’m glad I could help.
It’s taken me a couple of days to get back to almost normal.
I do know one thing… It’s much nicer up here in the woods at 60 degrees then it is almost anywhere else at 90 degrees.
Thanks for following along and I will have more to say about the trip and things I noticed along the way, in Mike Dell’s World #161 which I will record this week.
As you know, I’ve been doing 3 podcasts regularly for some time. Maybe not as regular as I should. I’ve been looking at my real-world schedule and came to a couple of conclusions.
1. Geek of the North needs to go to 2 times a week
2. Mike Dell’s world should move the weekend as it is my Hobby Podcast/blog
3. Tuesday is not a good day to podcast for me. I have a radio show on Tuesday night which makes my mornings busy on Tuesdays.
So the plan I’ve come up with is as follows:
Monday – Geek of the North recording to release on Monday night
Tuesday – No podcasting
Wednesday – Aviation History this week Recording to release on the following Monday
Thursday – No podcasting
Friday – Geek of the North Recording to release on Friday
Saturday – No podcasting
Sunday – MDW recording (unless I make an unscheduled episode) for release Monday
The Unplugged feed and the Ipadio feed will be updated as the mood strikes and What’s up with that might happen once in a while.
I’m really wanting to take my podcasting to the next level and try to grow audience and community. Geek of the North and Aviation History this week are going to be my more “professional” podcasts. Mike Dell’s World will continue to be my Hobby podcast.
I’ve also started a newsletter for Geek of the North. It’s an announce only mailing list and I will only post 2 times a week with the shownotes and other information about the podcast. Join the list here: Newsletter
