This is another “on-the-road” podcast. I recorded most of this at the end of a 3600 mile road trip to Texas and back. I was on the last leg of the trip heading home form Grand Haven after picking up a New to me car (or should I say a car that I had before and got back).

Anyway, at the end of the podcast there is a funny radio thing to do with Voiceover work.

An update after so long away from THIS microphone.

I give you updates about what’s been going on over the last however long it was since the last podcast. I also made the decision to pull the plug on the Unplugged feed. That’s All Folks! I will be putting all my podcasts into the main feed at http://mikedell.com/feed/podcast/. The Radio Mike Dell feed will stay active to catch all the other podcasts I do and the Video feed will stay active although, I’m guessing I won’t be putting a lot in there. We will see.

Otherwise, it was a nice drive in the woods and good to get caught up!

I just got and unboxed a Roland R-05 WAVE/MP3 Recorder
and this is the first recording out of the box without me reading any directions. This was recorded in the car on my errand run.

It seems a bit noisy but that might be ok.

I also talk about some other equipment I’m adding to the studio. I had a little trouble getting the Insert Cables hooked up between the Compressor/limiter/gate and the new Mixer.

Today’s show is going out on all the audio feeds. It’s sort of an announcement.

After 18 years of employment with a company, I have become self-employed. It’s going to take me a month or so to get ramped up and ready for a full load of business but I’ve never felt more ready then I do right now. 2 days ago, I didn’t think I was ready but the hand of God slapped me up side the head and said ” Dummy, you are going the wrong way. Here, go this way”

An update to let you know that my priorities are going to be a bit out of whack for the next few months as I get serious about Geek of the North and a few other projects I have going. I will try to keep the main Mike Dell’s World feed updated from time to time but your best bet to keep up with me will be to subscribe to either the Unplugged feed or the Geek of the North podcast. You can also subscribe to the Radio Mike Dell feed and get everything I do.

I plan on walking a lot now that the weather is breaking and I plan on having the recorder with me for unplugged episodes.

Been BUSY BUSY BUSY with lots of stuff.. It’s not supposed to be that way in winter around here. I talk about the trip to Novi, MI for my Wife’s Work.

NOVI: The name Novi was taken from the township, which was organized in 1832 from Farmington Township. The name was offered by resident Dr. J. C. Emery, at the suggestion of his wife. Residents were reportedly looking for a shorter name than Farmington.

Several popular but historically inaccurate explanations have been given for the origin of the name Novi. One version is that it was named after the 6th tollgate (No. VI) on the Grand River toll road. However, the township was named in 1832 and the toll road was not constructed until the 1850s. A similar claim is made about the township being stop number 6 on the railroad. However, the Holly, Wayne and Monroe Railway (now CSX Transportation) was not constructed through the township until 1870–71, almost 40 years after it was named. A third popular misconception is that Novi was the sixth stagecoach stop outside of Detroit. None of which is really true. I thought it was the interstate Exit
