The FCC says there are at least 100 stations will make the swtich tonight from Analog to Digital only broadcasts. Congress and the president have passed a delay of the transition until June 12th. They didn’t REQUIRE the stations to keep the analog transmitters going, they just gave them the option to do so. The problem of people being confused is now worse then ever.
Today was supposed to be the deadline and then they announced the delay. What about the people in areas that are turning off analog tonight? Those people are going to say “I thought it was delayed” “What’s Up With That?”
So if your TV turns to snow tonight, you need to get your converter box before you will get your TV stations back.
Of course, if you are reading this blog, you have internet access and most likely some sort of high speed. You can get all the TV you want (other then the local newscasts) online with sites like Hulu, CBS, ABC, YouTube and Viddler (among others). If you want local news, most local TV stations have a good new website with some Video on them.
I believe we should have made the switch today and the only reason the delay is good is that it will be much better weather to put up antennas outside that will likely be needed for digital.
As you have heard many times, if you are on Cable or Satellite, nothing will change.
Enjoy your TV!
